Lee received our certification from Hunter Joslin (indo board inventor) and became an official Indo Board instructor. This was at the end of a great day of Indoboarding with Hunter teaching surf instructors at Lasty Glaze,Newquay.
“Seriously stoked to meet Hunter and spend the day with him.
He’s an inspirational guy, if I’m as fit as he is at 59 then I will be happy!
Indo Boards have truly evolved in to more than a balance training kit, with the introduction of the IndoFLO cushion, and now the new Gigante. The functional uses for this training kit are endless. I intend to use Indo Board training more and more now and have integrated all the kit in to training the British JR surf team.” Lee Standbury – fit2surf

On 21 July 2010 Master Trainer Jase finished the last session of a six week lunchtime indoboard club at the Gryphon School, Sherborne, Dorset. The club was run slightly differently to other clubs in North Dorset this year and has been very successful. Running it at lunchtime has meant that indoboarding has been available to more children and one week, due to the sports hall being booked, the club was run on the sports field and had no fewer than 50 participants! This marks the end of our second year of delivering indoboarding in North Dorset and we very much look forward to our third year starting again in September. All that is left to do is to wish all the pupils and staff across the five sites a wonderful summer holiday, it has been a pleasure teaching the clubs.

Master trainer Kevin Hubble completed the delivery of an after school club at Gillingham, Dorset on 25 May 2010. The children took part in an 8 week club working through different tasks on the indoboard and culminating in some really cool tricks. The children are pictured below celebrating getting their certificates presented on the last day of the course. Kevin said, “I have been thrilled to teach the children at Gillingham and we look forward to coming back again next year.”

On Friday 11 June 2010, Master Trainer Jase travelled to Exeter and delivered an evening of indoboarding fun for the children at SOCOPS. SOCOPS is a charity providing social opportunities for children aged 8 – 16 years with high function autistic spectrum disorders. Jase said, “It was a really enjoyable evening at a great facility for these guys. They all really enjoyed indoboarding and I was really pleased with the skill levels of the children. Also, I did notice one or two of the parents having as much fun as the children, I look forward to delivering an indoboarding session for these guys again in the near future.”

Pictured below are Master Trainer, Kevin Hubble with some of the school children at Sturminster Newton after they received their indoboard after school club certificates. Indofitness runs the after school clubs in five schools in North Dorset, the other four being, Shaftesbury, Blandford, Gillingham and Sherborne. The classes have been delivered for the last two years with lottery funding and next year will be done with sport unlimited funding. The children attend for 6 weeks and after an initial introduction to the equipment and a “beginner’s” lesson they then work towards completing tasks on the indoboard each week under the watchful eye of the indofitness trainers. This culminates in them being awarded a certificate at the end of the course. ” The club is always enjoyable” says trainer Jase Fern, “over the weeks you see the guys grow in confidence and come out of their shells and express themselves through the indoboard, it’s really satisfying as a trainer to deliver these classes.”

Indofitness is proud to announce that our application for Sport England – Sport Unlimited year 3 has been approved and we will be delivering indoboard after school clubs in 5 schools in North Dorsetfrom September 2010.
Sport Unlimited is an innovative new youth sports programme which cascades funding to local communities via the county sports partnerships network.
It’s targeted at youngsters who may have some interest in sport, but aren’t particularly engaged with community or club sport.
We have found in the previous 2 years of delivering after school clubs that indoboarding ticks all the right boxes in encouraging young people who may not be taking part in mainstream sports to adopt anactive lifestyle thus improving their health and are very happy that we have been recognised for the work that has taken place already.
You can read more about the Sport Unlimited program by going towww.sportengland.org and looking under the support and advice button.
